B.Voc Department

Syllabus of B.Voc

  1. B.Voc Syllabus

Govt. College Una has the rare honour of starting B.Voc courses in this region alongwith 12 other colleges of Himachal Pradesh. B.Voc was started in the college in the year 2017 with two courses i.e. Retail Management and Hospitality & Tourism. First batch for both the courses is about to complete. The department is having the modern lab facilities for both the courses. Apart from general components, professional teachers from industry are imparting skill training to the students.

College is running two courses under BVoc Department:

1. Retail Management

B.Voc. (Retail Management) course is being run by the college under HPKVN , Retailing is a vital part of the business industry that involves selling products and services to consumers. With the tremendous growth of the economy, retail management has emerged as one of the fastest growing careers in India. The enormous expansion of the sector has thrown up a big demand for skilled professionals in the field. Job prospects in the retail sector include but are not limited to Customer Sales Associate, Team Leader, Departmental Manager, Floor Manager, Store Manager, Retail Operations Manager, Retail Buyers and Merchandisers, Visual Merchandisers, Logistic Managers, Warehouse Managers and many more. The programme curriculum has been designed as per the Qualification Packs/Model Curriculum released by Retailers’ Association Skill Council of India (RASCI), Mumbai and in close consultation with HPKVN and Orion Edutech Ltd.having experts from the industry and university. The curriculum includes general education and skill development components having extensive practical and on-the job training along with periodic industrial visits and industry interactions. The college/department has industry partnerships with leading retail companies which are renewed from time to time.

2. Hospitality and Tourism

Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Tourism and Hospitality Management is a graduate level program with the objective to provide adequate knowledge and skills related to Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management for employment and entrepreneurship. Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc -Hospitality & Tourism ) is a three year Degree program with multiple exits such as Diploma /Advanced Diploma/Degree relating to Hospitality and tourism . The course would provide adequate knowledge and skills for employment in the industry. The student will have flexibility by means of multiple exit points. Curriculum details would include a suitable mix of general education and skill development which are designed for specific job roles in tourism and hotel industries. The course includes content which equip skill development component in the candidate. Each year includes practical as well as theory courses which impart appropriate and relevant knowledge of the industry. The candidate will be exposed to project work and on the job training in the industry so as to become ready to work in the tourism industry. The curriculum having extensive practical and on-the job training along with periodic industrial visits and industry interactions. We have industry partnerships which are renewed from time to time.

Medium of instructions in Teaching

  • The course content of the B.Voc. programme will be taught in English, Methods of teaching shall be a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, educational tours, assignments, laboratory work, workshop practice, industrial training and project work. The regular faculty of the University, guest faculty from to reputed Organizations/Institutes and Industrial Partners will be involved in teaching, practical and workshop practices. In addition, contractual faculties will also be involved in teaching and laboratory work/workshop practice. Distinguished experts shall also be invited for lectures and seminars on special topics.

Attendance

  • A candidate shall be permitted to Appear for the Semester End Examinations if he/she satisfies the following requirements. a) Students are normally expected to attend 100% theory, tutorial and practical classes/workshop practices. However, no student shall be allowed to appear in the end semester examination in the paper unless he/she has put in at least 75% attendance during the course of instruction in each paper separately for subjects of General Education and Skill Development Component of the vocational course is required.
  • His/her conduct must be satisfactory.
  • A shortfall in attendance up to 10% can be condoned by the Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla once during the entire course provided such shortage is caused by continuous absence on genuine medical grounds. d) The attendance in theory and practical sessions will be considered separately. In the case of shortage of attendance, the cases will be considered as per the rules of the University.

Dress code

  • Every student shall come to the college in proper dress as specified by the department as following. Anyone deviating from the below mentioned dress code shall be fined. Black trouser, Black Blazer, White Shirt Black tie College logo on the blazer, SSC logo on tie for both the sectors i.e. Retail, Hospitality & Tourism.

Ragging

  • Vide UGC Letter No. F-8-1/97 (C.P.P.II) dated 7-7-2001 for the implementation of Hon’ble Supreme Court guideline surbing in education institution, the ragging is completely prohibited. Ragging inside or outside the campus/hostel/road/approaches leading there to is strictly prohibited. If any student is found indulging directly or indirectly, the college authorities shall be obliged under rule 22,17 (a) (b) (c) (d) of HP University ordinance to expel the guilty student from the college.

Library Rules

  • There is provision for library cards for the students who wish to avail of library facilities.
  • The library card can be had from the library incharge on the production of Identity Card.
  • Books issued can be kept for a period of 15 days. Delay will be charged @ of Rs. 1.00 per day.
  • Text book and reference book will not be issued.
  • Student can borrow maximum upto 3 books at a time.
  • The books must be handled carefully. Any loss or damage will have to be paid for with special permission of the principal.

  • Candidate enrolled for this programme shall be entitled for KaushalVikasBattha of Rs. 1000/- per month as per state Govt. Policy for the entire duration of his/her admission.
